Total Cost for 16 Days in Sri LankaThis total is derived by adding all the totals in local currency and then converting to USD, as opposed to just adding the approximate USD figures. This is why the USD figures will not add up correctly.

Average Daily Cost: $25.98USD
The above totals do not include cost of flights to and from Sri Lanka (from Australia, to Guangzhou (China). I try to keep under a $50USD a day budget. That means for 16 days I have $800. I spent approx $420 while in Sri Lanka, which leaves me $380USD for flights.
My flights cost $637.50USD so I was $256.50USD over-budget. If you include my flights I spent an average of $66.05USD a day… still not too bad.

After 16 days in Sri Lanka, including flights, my cost of travel in Sri Lanka came to about $66USD per day, but only $26USD per day if you do not include flights.
