Backstage Magazine: Actor’s Art & Craft “Must Read” & “Superb”

In her recent Backstage article “6 (More) Must-Read Books for Actors” (Feb. 27, 2015), veteran acting coach and all-around biz whiz Denise Simon says this about “The Actor’s Art & Craft,” Damon’s first book with acting teacher Bill Esper of The William Esper Studio:

“What makes this book superb is co-writer DiMarco’s addition to Esper’s work. A former student of Esper’s, DiMarco spent over a year observing his mentor teaching first-year acting students. In this book he recreates that experience for us, allowing readers to experience the progression of performance exercises in practices. If you are not familiar with [Sanford] Meisner’s work . . . include this to balance out your library.”

For years, Backstage has been the go-to trade magazine for the entertainment industry from the perspective of performers (singers, dancers, comedians, models, etc.), the performance unions (SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity Association, AGVA, AGMA, the American Federation of Musicians, etc.), casting directors, agents, writers, directors, and, in particular, actors.
