My Journey of Learning to Heal – Matt Huskey
This testimony of learning how to heal was shared by my friend Matt Huskey.
I grew up as a Christian and while I was taught God was able to heal, I never witnessed any supernatural healing. I first began to learn the truth about God’s desire for us to be healed after stumbling across Andrew Wommack’s God Wants You Well in May of 2014.
Unfortunately, I never saw any results, but God next brought me to Roger Sapp’s teachings in August. I enjoyed his calm demeanor and learned more about healing, however, I still never saw any fruit from my prayers. My relationship with God continued to grow and I knew it was His will for us to be well, yet I never witnessed any physical manifestations of healing.
Last November, my wife began having intense lower abdominal pain. We ended up in the hospital ER an hour later where she was given several tests and required painkillers to lessen the level ten pain she was experiencing. The tests never revealed any definitive cause and after a few hours the pain subsided. The hospital doctor gave her a diagnosis, referred her to a specialist and discharged her. We went home and she had waves of mild pain for the next 24 hours. Specialists disagreed with the hospital’s diagnosis, and to this day we don’t know with any certainty what medical condition caused the episode.
On the way to the hospital, I tried praying and rebuking the pain. God orchestrated many events behind the scenes and helped her recover, but I was very discouraged by my inability to heal her in Jesus’ name. I understood the enemy was behind these attacks, but I still felt very defeated. What was the point of learning about healing if nothing ever came from it? However, I refused to give up and continued to believe that the miracles would eventually manifest.
In December, God lead me to Praying Medic’s book and from him I learned about Pete Cabrera Jr and Todd White. PM’s book and YouTube videos of Cabrera and White were amazing, and I knew that God wanted me to learn from these teachers. Three days later, I finally saw my first healing! My wife had hurt her wrist, so I rebuked in the pain in Jesus’ name, and the pain left. I was ecstatic and more than a little surprised that it had finally worked!
Since then I have prayed for more and more people in the name of Jesus, often seeing success and praising God every time! Even though I have come to expect healing to occur, it still marvels me every time I witness it!
On January 18, 2015, I was reflecting with my wife about her hospitalization two months prior. I said that if it happened again I knew God would heal her and take away the pain. Five days later, at around 11:00 PM, she began having waves of pain that alternated between a one and a six on a scale of ten. This was the exact same kind of pain she experienced the day she was hospitalized.
Immediately, I sat down and prayed with her and rebuked the pain and whatever was causing it. The pain subsided during the prayer but returned seconds later. Rather than giving into fear and doubt, I put my trust in God and prepared to pray again in full confidence in His power. First, I told her that God will heal her of this, and to not think about the previous occasion and allow fear and anxiety to take hold.
For the second prayer, I thanked Father for lessening the pain and I rebuked the enemy, all his works and every spirit of pain, fear, anxiety and infirmity. I then largely repeated the previous prayer. I rebuked the pain and commanded her body to be made whole and well in Jesus’ name.
Something new happened as I was finishing the prayer. Both of my hands began pulsing which felt similar to a mild throbbing. At first, I thought I was feeling my pulse, but I realized one hand was on her and the other on me. I then noticed that it felt like healing was traveling out of my hands. So I put both hands on my wife and waited 15-30 seconds until the sensation subsided.
I asked how she was feeling and she said the pain was almost entirely gone! She occasionally felt very light pain, (a level one) but God had healed her! Within a couple of minutes all of the pain was gone! I then thanked Jesus and rejoiced in prayer for the miraculous healing we just witnessed!
It was a joyous event in stark contrast to two months prior. I doubt if we would have seen such success in such a short period of time if it had not been for the teachings of Praying Medic and the demonstrations of healing by others like Todd White and Pete Cabrera.
