My Review:
When Genna Galante meets Matty in an elevator, she has no idea that the gorgeous boy stranded with her is Matteo Barsanti, the eldest son of her family's biggest enemy. By the time she learns the truth, it's too late. She's already falling for him. And why not? He's not what you'd expect from a gangster's son. He's sweet, thoughtful, and gentle… everything she's been told her entire life the Barsantis are not.
But love doesn't conquer all, and no one is on Genna and Matty's side when their relationship is revealed. If learning to trust Matty was difficult for her, finding a way to be with him is next to impossible. Matty's brother wants to kill Genna, and Genna's brother would love nothing more than to destroy Matty.
With a war brewing between their families, Genna and Matty must find a way to survive the bloodshed without losing sight of one another. Problem is: things are about to get a whole lot more difficult than their of them were prepared for.
I never know quite what to expect next from J.M. Darhower, but she never disappoints. By Any Other Name was no exception. Genna and Matty aren't at all what I expected, and I loved that about them. Genna is a little brash at times, outspoken even though she's probably the most vulnerable character in this story. Matty is sensitive and still sexy as all hell. Watching the relationship unfold between the two is such fun… they challenge each other, comfort one another, and made me laugh out loud. They also made me cry. I found myself going back several times to reread certain scenes of this story, and enjoying them just as much the third time as I did the first. I give By Any Other Name 4.5 of 5 stars.
