My first baby is 17 years old. He is a beautiful, tall 6-foot-7-inch young man. I was also blessed to also be the mother of an amazing 11-year-old girl. Parenthood has been one of the greatest but also most challenging stewardships of my life, and reaching that ultimate role of parent was extremely challenging.
Seven years of infertility made my 53 pounds of weight gain and months of nausea more of a pre-gift to the greatest gift of a 10-pound baby. Finally being pregnant was worth everything.
Our struggle to have a baby ended with … a baby. This isn’t always the ending for many infertile couples of the world. During those emotionally charged years of hoping for a baby, I gained some personal insights into what was helpful and supportive.
