Try to Bring Awareness to Negative Thinking

Do you experience moments of worry, anxiety, and fear? Of course you do. Everyone does. Do you sometimes make decisions because you don’t want to appear foolish, or you are worried what others might think? Do you ever feel as though sometimes your worries and fears prevent you from living the life you desire?

If you can bring presence to those moments when you are encountering negative thoughts, you can experience being the observer of those thoughts. You can experience those thoughts as being separate from you, as being an entity outside of yourself. I liken the experience to being in a movie theater and watching the story of someone else’s life. You are witnessing the events of another’s life but you are merely there as the observer to that life. You are not engaged in the actual events of their life. You can have this same experience with your own life. Through presence, you enter into that space where you become the observer of the your thoughts.

In this state of observing, when you are able to bring awareness to the activity of the ego, you realize that the worries and fears of the ego are merely thoughts that ultimately have no power whatsoever, that they only have power when you leave the Present and the ego returns and latches on to those thoughts and believes them to be real. When you identify with those thoughts, and all the fear and worry returns, you are no longer the observer but you become what you observe, meaning you become worried, you become fearful, you become your negative thoughts.

So, try to bring awareness to your negative thoughts. Become the observer. By doing so you will see that negative thoughts have no power over you unless you allow the ego to identify with them.

You can experience freedom from your negative thoughts. The more time you spend as the observer to the endless chatter of the ego, the more you will be able to separate from those thoughts of anxiety, worry, and fear, that restrict you from living the life you desire.

I wish you all the best in your personal and spiritual journeys.

Peace and blessings,

Sullins
