After I published The Prophecy of Arcadia, my fans asked for a backstory on the mysterious planet. When I began plotting the series, writing a prequel wasn't in the plan. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I needed to tell the story of the explorers who were responsible for the invasion that nearly destroyed Arcadia.

Writing The Fall of Arcadia was the best decision I made in regards to this series. It ultimately helped shape The Phoenix Shadow, the second book in the Arcadian Wars series.

I know a lot of readers prefer to read books in chronological order, but The Fall of Arcadia can be read after The Prophecy of Arcadia. In fact, I think the novella ties in better with The Phoenix Shadow.
