Emma and Jane

I’d like to mention a new book that I thought might be of interest to many of my readers. Patricia Bracewell’s second book in her trilogy about Emma of Normandy, The Price of Blood, has just been published. Here are links to Patricia’s website and Amazon to find out more.

Emma has been lucky enough to attract several talented authors. Pat is telling her story now and a few years ago, so did Helen Hollick in Forever Queen. I believe it was published under another title in the UK?

And while this is not medieval, I thought it fitting to take a moment to remember one of history’s more tragic pawns, Lady Jane Grey, the Nine Days Queen, who went to her death at age 17 on February 12, 1554. Jane’s story has attracted her share of writers, too, one of the most recent being Susan Higginbotham’s Her Highness the Traitor.

Rebecca Thanks Sharon.

I have the first book by Patricia but I don't read trilogy's until they have all been released.

The book by Helen Hollick which I have, is titled 'A Hollow Crown.' It is a very good read as you probably know.

As for Lady Jane Grey...what a sad and tragic fate that poor girl had.

Hope you're keeping warm and thankfully there is a cool breeze outside my own home which makes a lovely change from 41C last Saturday!

Sharon It is ten degrees here now, Rebecca, not counting the wind chill. There is always a wind chill, isn't there?

Rebecca I have seen the weather reports on the TV news....I think it is colder in America than the Wall in Westeros!...I have never felt snow and so I tend to think how 'pretty' it is until I see how you all have to go outside and shovel out your driveways and then I kinda change my mind lol....But seriously I do hope you are keeping warm and that the foul weather will warm up a bit for you.

As for me I hope it continues to stay cool, but it may be heating up again by the weekend:(. I hate the heat and it makes my ME play up.

Sharon Thanks, Rebecca. Love your comparison to the Wall! At least we don't have to fend off the White Walkers, just a hungry polar bear or two.
I don't like very hot weather either. How does the ME respond to your winters? Or doesn't it get very cold in your corner of Australia?

Rebecca ME is an odd illness. For many summer is their best months but for me it is the opposite. I thrive in autumn/winter. The colder it is the better I feel.On Saturday morning I took my dogs for their usual morning walk, but I soon regretted it as the heat was intense and it was only 7AM!

The cold here is different, I think. I mean I wear Jeans and woolen jumpers, but I don't rug up with coats and scarves....In my part of the country, we don't freeze and there is little chance of frost bite. But it does snow in some parts of Victoria and Sydney and I know it gets really cold in the Snowy Mountains(tho I've never been there).

When I saw how freezing it was in some parts of America, it really did remind me of Jon Snow and The Wall.....I hope it warms up soon.:)
