Effective Communication

Nehemiah 2:17 Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.

There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. When the time to speak of the vision comes … your words will have been well baked in many ovens of silence … it would have been well seasoned by the wisdom of God … a wisdom that none can dispute. Nehemiah describes the vision for the first time, he invites his hearers to come and then he explains what they will be doing. I pray God gives you clarity in speech. Good businessmen and women understand the power of effective communications especially speech.

Learn to speak with clarity …know the headlines of your communication … do not try and say too much …and most people can digest only three main points at a time … Do not underestimate the importance of clear speech. You do not need an hour to say what can be said in three minutes. Before you prepare any speech … be sure you know the three vital headlines you want people to go away with. In this case Nehemiah wanted to share 1. Distress that we are in … as Jerusalem wastes and the gates are burnt 2. Come let us build 3. What is in it for you – an end to reproach.

Understand the pillars of compelling communication. The first pillar is the burning platform (why we need to act) … the second pillar is a call to action … “Come let us build” and finally the third pillar is the “ The Benefit statement” … May God help you to make compelling statements. A brief sentence can be more compelling than pages of words and paragraphs.

Luk_21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Suggestions for Prayer

O Lord, give me a tongue that none can resist. Amen

As Nehemiah’s wall was built-  so will we see a reconstruction in all that may appear in distress and in waste.  Nehemiah trusted and feared God, putting his faith in the Almighty whose strength is limitless to exceed all our expectations. Look out daily for Nehemiah’s Wall in 2015 and do invite friends to subscribe to the free email or social media posts.

I am praying someone with a burden to be used by God in building will receive a fresh vision and get the job done.
