About a million people have asked me if Brigitte Nielson (sp?) from the Red Sonja film is how I see Red Sonja, and she really, really isn’t. My mom is a huge fan of Sonja and that film, but I only saw part of it years ago, and don’t remember it at all.

Above is my biggest inspiration for Red Sonja, the amazing KATE BUSH in her BABOOSHKA video. Where she represents untamed temptation and power, looks fierce and amazing. Plus, it helps that the song is brilliant.

That’s the image I had in mind when I agreed to do the book, and Kate being the inspiration is a big reason why my Red Sonja takes no shit from anyone, ever, and also that no one tells Sonja what to do.
