Blurb:
Embittered by betrayal, Anne MacKay flees London for America, where she learns she’s pregnant with her abusive husbands longed-for heir. In a society that doesnt protect, or afford a well-to-do wifes desire for divorce, Anne decides there is one way to exact revenge: deny the father any knowledge of his child.
Sought after by her husbands henchmen, Anne travels by rail and horseback, far from civilization where silk and stays are worn, let alone thought of. Lies and deceit protect her identity for a time, allowing her to birthand grow to lovethe child who was supposed to be her vengeance.
With the help of her loyal and protective business partner, Jude Connagher, and the ranch hands in their Montana Territory valley, Anne attempts to rebuild her life under the shadow of her husbands wrath.
One unwise decision lands Anne in her pursuers clutches, tearing her from the ranch, her child, and her growing love for the one man who could redeem her from bitterness. She’s left with no choice but to finally face her husband, knowing her freedom and life hang in the balance.

Tens List for Sheryl Winters
Ten must-haves for fleeing across America in 1868
1. Courage. Fleeing into the unknown, especially as a woman during that time, takes more guts than I can imagine a woman from the 21st century has.
2. Resolve because there was nothing easy about the train tracks or trail during the 1800s.
3. Money. Cash can buy luxuryat least as much as could be found during that time. Perhaps an extra cushion or two for the trains wooden bench. A hotel room. A hot bath. Hot food.
4. A good horse to keep blisters from forming in the event you have to walk for a long period of time.
5. Matches. Yes, they were available in 1868, and a camp fire would be a must-have on the open range.
6. Sturdy boots / clothing. Since there werent any washing machines or laundry mats readily available, you would need clothing that would hold up to the task of getting you to the next stream or river.
7. A firearm. While guns are frowned on by most in todays society, having a gun in 1868 would be as natural as breathing. Protection from critters, Indians, and bandits would be up to you since there was little to no law west of the Mississippi.
8. Knowledge of foraging / hunting. If youre unable to stock up on supplies before fleeing civilization, you had best know what plants were edible and how to hunteither by trapping OR shooting that necessary rifle.
9. A blanket or two, because who wants to sleep on a pile of sagebrush or pine boughs without some sort of cushion?
10. Street smarts. While that term didnt exist in 1868, one would need to be observant. Wary. Careful. Shrewd. Wise. You never know whator whoyou might come into contact with in a God forsaken land.
Bio:
Terri started writing stories in the 8th grade, when a little gnome whispered in her brain. Gundis Great Adventure never hit the best seller list, but it started a long love affair with storytelling.
Today she enjoys an escape to Middle Earth during the rare me moments her three young children allow. When not playing toys, picking them back up, or kissing boo-boos, she can be found sprawled on the couch with a book or pencil in hand, and toothpicks propping her eyelids open.
