Curiosity Quills Acquisitions Editor: Vicki Keire

When not reading and writing about all things paranormal, she enjoys other people’s cooking and keeps vampire hours. She’d rather burn the laundry than fold it, and believes that when an author wins the Newberry, he or she gets a secret lifetime pass to Neverland. She is fond of lost causes and loud music. She currently resides in Central Florida on a lake-front farm full of many furry friends. She loves hearing from readers and can be reached on most social media sites or through her blog (link: http://www.vickikeire.blogspot.com/), of which she is awfully fond.
1. Tell us how you came to work with Curiosity Quills Press. I signed on with them as one of their first authors for my Chronicles of Nowhere series. I loved every part of my experience with CQ, and when the press started growing, I got to be a part of that growth.
2. What does your job entail?Reading, reading, and more reading! Also there’s contract negotiation, but the reading is the best part.
3. What do you enjoy most about being an acquisitions editor? I love being able to discover new authors. It is such a thrill to help debut authors bring their books into the world.
4. What have your experiences been like working with the authors?Very positive. Authors are so excited when their books get accepted, and I love being a part of that.
5. What is the hardest part of being an acquisitions editor?Sending rejections! I hate that part. I always try and point out the positive, and when I can, be constructive.
6. And what is the best part?It would have to be discovering that gem of an untouched manuscript.
7. What kind of manuscripts do you enjoy and are looking for, and how can an author submit to you?I’m reading a lot of romance lately. I’m presently most interested in contemporary romance, especially NA. But I’ll take almost anything with a strong romantic focus, even if it veers into other genres like thrillers or mysteries, or paranormal. Give me unforgettable characters and lots of romantic tension!
8. Last question; If you were suddenly struck by lightning/bitten by something/exposed to toxic waste, and ended up with super powers, what would it be and why?
I’ve always wanted telepathy. Very useful skill. J
