E-pirates suck. Rant!
Hey, peeps.
Not exactly the type of post I wanted to type. In fact, I wasn't planning on making a blog post tonight at all. I was planning on working on book three in the Hanaford Park series.
I'm participating in Nano to try and get a good chunk of this manuscript done, and hadn't had a chance to write this morning. I came home from dropping my girls off at cheer and sat down to write when I received a Google alert leading me to a file sharing site with three different links to my book. All were uploaded by the same jerk whose name I will refrain from sharing at this time.
I Googled this turd's name and found he's uploaded my book elsewhere as well. In fact, one of the forums I was led to was hosted in a different country! Couldn't navigate the site to save my life.
How am I supposed to fight that? Sure, I sent a take down notice to the sites I was able to navigate. Thing is, I can't find a place to contact this jerk to ask him nicely to stop giving away my book for free. All I've got is a name, and I'm not even sure it's correct.
This blows!
As I said above, I'm currently working on book three, and to be honest with you, it's the most challenging thing I've written so far. Time travel, historical aspects ... lots of things that are fun, but take time to wrap my head around. It's been slow going, and when this type of crap happens, it makes me feel like tossing my laptop into the pool. I've been guilting myself for days for being short on my Nano word count, for not finishing faster. I agonize over every single word I type out.
Then this happens. Let me tell you, it sucks the wind right out of my sails.
Yes, I realize I'm a newbie author, a tadpole in the big pond. I also realize there are those that think because I'm not published with the "Big Six" that I'm not published at all, and I should probably quit complaining.
Whatever! I worked hard. I fulfilled a dream, and dammit, it pisses me off that people stomp all over it and steal from me.
E-piracy is wrong, people! Wrong, wrong, wrong!
