My Monday Morning Routine
Every Sunday night I say to myself, "Let's get off to an early start and really get a lot of writing done this week!" Then Monday arrives, the alarm rings, I hit snooze one, two, three times, and already the week is shot. Husband has left three hours before--this week for the DR, last week for Buffalo, next week, who knows. Back in September I made a deal with my kids that if they were up, showered, dressed, and at the table I would pay them a dollar. This works 35% of the time. The 11yo boy makes it around 75% but the 9yo girl, who loves sleeping more than she loves me, hits about 5%. I've also tried to instill in them responsibility, chores, organization. Fairly slightly less better at this.
Regardless, I got them out the door at 8 today, walked the 9yo to school, hauled my wheelie bag across town to Trader Joe's, loaded up the week's worth of groceries, got them home and unloaded. Made breakfast. Tea. Sat down at my desk to "get cracking," only to see that it was already 9:30. What? Got tweeting, facebooking, goodreadsing, gmailing, classmoming, bookclubrescheduling, back to twitter--because God forbid I missed anyone thinking that I'm clever--then back to gmail, over to Girl Scouts to check on 9yo's cookie order page, and now back here. Phew. It's 11:11, or as I sometimes write it !!:!!.
Nasty, rainy day. All I really want to do is see what new movies are on the pay per view. Or go back to the book I'm supposed to have read for book club--The Dinner (ugh)--and fall asleep on the couch. I am open to votes on this matter.
