New Year but not a new ME…

Quite aptly this article appeared on the Sky News website and I can SOO relate to it. http://news.sky.com/story/1400239/paltrow-hits-out-at-women-who-twist-words. Whatever is said, whatever is done it won’t stop me from writing.
This holiday I have had some amazing feedback and comments from you all about this blog and about my writing. This is not a hobby for me, it is my new chosen career. I could sit and wallow in the fact that this illness took away my career but I’m not. I am re-adapting and fighting to provide my boys with a decent life and upbringing. I am persistent and driven. I know what I want, it is within my capabilities so I will try. I have accepted that I could fail but the desire to succeed is greater than my fear to fail.
I hope you all had a safe, relaxing and happy Christmas. We had a very quiet one this year – by choice I might add. I decided I wasn’t going to spend the whole of Christmas Day cooking and missing out on spending time with the boys. In fact, Christmas Eve we went out for a lovely meal to Harvey’s Bar and Grill in Castleford which meant on Christmas Day none of us were really hungry. So instead of having our Masterchef homemade pasta competition, we played party games, playing cards and relaxed in each other’s company. You have no idea how much it means to all of us to just have time to chill. I know lots of parents will agree, every day is hectic but the extra burden of Christmas it overwhelming at times. For us though, with three times a week to Sheffield, football and all the other activities we are involved in, time at home together is a luxury.
This year we have not over indulged. I’ve had one glass of wine and two Southern Comforts in two weeks!! I know some people think we are boring but I didn’t want to start January ill and Wes is in the middle of pre-season training. It has done us all the power of good and we are leaping into to the New Year rather than crawling, kicking and screaming!
The boys were happy and that made me happy. New Year was much the same. No party for us, just four of us chilling and having a laugh. I will look back on 2014 as being a year when I found myself. That is PRICELESS.

New Year’s Resolution
Have you set your New Year’s resolutions? I haven’t. My goals are simple – to carry on what I started in 2014. That’s it. I like the new ME. I like how I have grown over the last twelve months. I’m not perfect but I’m me – little, old me!

Steven Gerrard

I wish him and his family all the very best for the future and I know that taking every opportunity in life is a must even if it means making tough decisions other people do not like or understand.
Writing

This year starts with the major edit of Beyond the Lies. Although I finished it well before Christmas, I wanted to take a break away from it before I started the edit. I did this with Beyond the Past and think the distance in time is sufficient enough for me to be critical about my work – and yes I am over critical but that is a good thing in this instance.
I am also writing my third novel which will see DCI Fisher and DS Davies take on a new case three years after the Mark Smith case. It is ambitious but if you’re going to do something – CHALLENGE YOURSELF.
Over Christmas I drafted another novel idea and like all the others, I love it and want to start it now. In fact, I have over twelve novel ideas – can you imagine trying to write all of them at the same time?? I haven’t set myself a goal in terms of the number of books I want to write this year, we shall see how the year pans out.
One other big project I have is to turn Beyond the Past into a script. I would love to script write so 2015 is the time to

I also need to find some other source of income in the short term to ensure we can survive. So if anyone out there needs a writer, researcher, blogger, decent, hard worker then let me know. The only term I have is working from home.
I wish you all a very happy, prosperous and peaceful 2015 and look forward to getting to know you all much better. Start 2015 as you mean to go on. GET OUT THERE AND THINK BIG. You are capable of so much more…
The first three chapters of Beyond the Past are posted on my website to give you a taster
