The Inevitable Post
Oh good lord. The last time I blogged was OCTOBER??!
My apologies.
I used to be a huge fan of end of the year retrospectives, but the past few years I haven't always been feeling it. This year in particular, I just don't know what to say.
It's been a weird year.
There have been a few bumps. I think the first six months of this year were some of the most challenging I've ever had. Mostly it looked like this:
Well, ok, no. If it looked like Ryan Gosling rubbing his face and exhibiting a tender vulnerability in front of me...well...I probably wouldn't have been so stressed. Heyyyy.
But I was overwhelmed--finishing a master's degree and acting as Director for Boston GLOW--not easy.
But then there was Lion Heart. Lion Heart was HARD. I spent most of 2013 writing it, and the first half of 2014 staring at it and feeling broken--feeling like there were all these things wrong with it and I didn't know how to fix them. Feeling more lost than I ever had with writing. I felt like I had lost my faith that I could keep going with the book--I had lost Scarlet and her story and I had no idea how to say goodbye to her.
And trying to figure that out while doing the other stuff was HARD.
But then...I did it. I finished Lion Heart--in fact, it's going to EXIST, in real BOOKISH FORM, in May.
I graduated--that was pretty awesome.
I went to my cousin's wedding, my best friend's wedding (I was maid of honor!), my little brother's graduation from law school, and I watched him get sworn in to the Pennsylvania bar. I started as a teaching fellow at Harvard Graduate School of Education, I celebrated my older brother getting engaged to an awesome future sister-in-law and Lady Thief hit the shelves.
Which means...2014 was a pretty awesome year.
But guys...I have a feeling that 2015 is going to be awesome. I will officially publish my first trilogy, my big brother will get married (actually, EVERYONE is getting married--I have five weddings to go to so far.)
And this will be me:
So bring it on, 2015. Because if 2014 taught me anything, its that I AM SO READY FOR YOU.
And that I'm looking forward to cracking 500 on Candy Crush. Because whatever, I have goals.
xx
