OPEN YOUR HEART_MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY MOMENT
Sometimes the storms of life come against us and we are battered away to the point we almost feel like drowning. Sometimes, we don't feel as if we can stand on our own two feet any longer, not knowing good from bad, or up from down. All we see is black and we don't know who to trust or how to move forward.
This last year has been very challenging for my family and me on every front. But God, held us close to Him and has kept us through it all. At times when I've wondered how we would survive and times when I was amazed at how I was still holding on, I realized it was His peace surrounding me and His grace keeping me. It wasn't of my own accord that I stood, but His.
During the last week as I stood by my husband's side as he and his siblings and parents buried his oldest brother, we had other attacks launched against us. These attacks were internal, other family members were assaulting from both sides of the family. The attacks that I withstood were by those I least suspected would want to hurt me. But yet, I continue to hang on. I'm so thankful that I have the relationship with Jesus that I do. I know that without Him, I could not make it through.
I have had to make decisions that I was uncertain if I wanted to make or not, and not sure what decision to make. But as I was preparing for a meeting this past weekend, I heard Yolanda Adams' song, "Open My Heart." It made me think about how I wanted to push people back because of the hurt that I endured. I can't give up on those people, because Jesus didn't give up on me. I can protect myself and my immediate family, but I don't have to completely close my heart. It's time to move forward and keep moving on. But I can only do that with a heart of forgiveness. You see, it's not those around us that's attacking us, it's the enemy using those around us to attack us. But God showed me this weekend, that "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." 1 John 4:4.
Open your heart to forgive those who have wronged you, love on those closest to you, and trust God to lead the way.
Be blessed my people.
