Is it possible to write about something you yourself have not experienced and do it well, like being in love if you haven't been in love? And will others believe it?

I imagine the authors of all the historical fiction I read these days didn’t have a time machine, so I vote yes. Some research is required for things the author hasn’t experienced, of course, but when you strip it down to its core, stories are about authors connecting to readers on a human level, and if you’re human, you just need to tap into that, and listen to what your characters have to say, and research the things that are important to them.
