When You Let Go

Three weeks ago, our ten year old Great Pyrenees, Nana, fell down the stairs.


She had been slowing down of late, but I figured that was expected, as ten years is the lower end of the life expectancy range for these big dogs. But when we heard a scrabbling on the stairs, a thump, and that terrible hurt dog whining, we realized her decline was, perhaps, happening faster than we were anticipating.

Rhoddi Sorry for your loss. I had to go through the same thing where my old pup was falling apart and wouldn't eat and I would buy her the best food just to try entice her to nibble something. But some great advice from a neighbour was, if you have the power to let them go humanly, with dignity, then you should do it. Again I'm sorry for your loss, but believe you are very brave to think of your pup first and doing what's best for her.
