Another Word From the Management

To all of our lovely, lovely blog readers:

A tragedy has happened today.

The author’s dear, beloved computer has passed on from this world.

Oh, its mortal shell is still here, pink case sitting quietly on the desk as if at any second it could come to life again, but no more.  No more shall fingers type nimbly over its keys, no more shall Christmas music come from its speakers, no more shall City Girl be played upon its screen.  Gone are the pictures of friends now so far away, of times and places now past; never to be recovered, now only memories.  Scattered are the Word documents and Excel files, adrift are the PDFs, and once lively games now sit silently unplayed.

And…

And the story.

Dear readers, it is my tearful duty to tell you that what has been written may now be lost.  It will not be lost for all time – there are wizards in the world, and even now they ply their trade upon the inner circuits – and the author will send her eagles of Thought and Memory to retrieve it, but it will take some time.  This is not the end of the story, for there will never be an end to the story, but there may be a small pause while the words are re-collected.

The blog will continue on, though Management may have to substitute kitten pictures for story updates a couple times.  The books will still be published – no power in the universe could stop them.  But we would like to ask that you take a small moment of silence for this passing.  So often losses such as these are greeted with terror and dread panic, and these have come and passed, so we would like to now honor a long life of near-constant operation.  Helpmate, colleague, sure tool at our hands – we will miss you.*

*Until you are replaced, probably with a better model.  But such is the life cycle of the computer.
