Looking Ahead to 2015
I’ve got big plans for 2015. Big plans.
Writing things. Lots of things.
I plan on ramping up my production schedule and releasing books more frequently. Expect another Galvanic Century book or two, as well as another series of some sort. The goal here is to put out a book every other month or so, with supplementary short stories on the side.
Some short stories will be shared exclusively with my mailing list, so subscribe if you’d like to read those. Other stories will be submitted for publication in paying fiction markets, and published here on the blog once the exclusivity period ends.
Burning Brigid Media
We’ll be moving into production with the Sleep Study atmospheric horror web series. It’s already written, so my continued involvement will be as a producer and, depending on how well the Kickstarter does, director. I’d really prefer to delegate as much as possible so I can focus on the higher level aspects, and my other projects.
We’re also planning a monthly audioplay podcast that I’ll be writing for, featuring local talent from the Chicago film community. I’m excited about that.
Mcoorlim dot com, Hero Historia, and Book Nouveau
One of the lessons I learned in 2014 was that maintaining multiple platforms is a lot of effort. As a result, I’m going to be consolidating some of my projects to make them easier to manage.
First, I’m going to be hosting the third season of my historical web serial Hero Historia here, on mcoorlim dot com. I’ve got the basic page set up, and I’ll be migrating the chapters over the holiday. Aside from the hosting, no other modifications are planned; it’ll still be a weekly series of 12 arc stories.
Secondly, I’m going to be consolidating my youtube channels. I have two right now, one for my book vlog Book Nouveau and one for… well… everything else. While the branding was tighter, there’s not a significant enough benefit to that split. There’s already a Book Nouveau review page set up here.
The goal is also to put out more videos on a regular schedule. Book reviews once a week, some behind the scene commentary on what I’m working on, rants, or other business one or two more times a week. I’m still working out the specifics of the programming.
Goals for 2015
So.
Publish work on a consistent bi-monthly schedule.
Optimize my Hero Historia workflow to eliminate gaps between story arcs.
Find the time to read frequently enough to have a review ready to go every week.
Get a nicer camera so I can produce multiple blog videos each week.
Somehow find the time to get back into game development.
Spread my memetic presence and infect the minds of yet more impressionable readers.
On that note
On that note, it’s the holidays, so enjoy yourselves and have a great New Years. I’m going dark while I do all the things I was just talking about; you might see more posts from me as I go along, but don’t worry if you don’t see any posts from me between now and January.
I’m here.
I’m working.
I’m listening.
I’m just a bit busy trying to take the new years by the reigns to make it mine.
