Chapter 287: Guard and Guardian
���Taweel will be furious,��� Adin repeated. ���But when he finds you gone, maybe he���ll follow. We���ll be together again.���
Tamaes hardly knew how to respond to these impossible promises to drag him further into darkness. But he was spared from answering when Adin���s hand clamped over his mouth.
���The hunters!��� he snarled.
Adin was still shaky on his feet, but he lunged for Tamaes���s sword, wheeling when a Fourfold exploded into the chamber. Hooves raised a din; bronzed feathers banished every shadow.
���Nock,��� Tamaes called weakly.
But Adin took a stand over him, exclaiming, ���Fear not, brother! I���ll protect you!���
