Chapter 285: Broken Wings
When Tamaes���s vision cleared, Adin was slumped over him. Shards, shreds, and spatters of luminous blood lay everywhere. Tamaes stirred, but moving made his wounds gush, so he went limp.
Adin���s forehead rested on Tamaes���s breastplate, and shudders wracked his body. ���That hurt!��� he hissed.
Long spines scrabbled along the floor, rattling as they dragged scraps of dimming glass through the muck. When Adin used them to push himself up, Tamaes realized. ���You unfurled.���
���Don���t mock,��� Adin said through gritted teeth.
���Sorry,��� he whispered.
Adin���s touch was unaccountably gentle as he inspected Tamaes���s face. ���Taweel is going to be furious.���
