to not be able to do anything for people who have done so much for me is difficult to get a handle on.

two nights ago, i saw the boys in new york, and what he said about music and art and transcendence moved me from the inside out. to know that the very next night, he started to share that sentiment again only to finish it with nothing matters, splits my heart in the place where my own art comes from.

sharing yourself the way he and all artists do is a deeply intense act of love. a lot of times, it’s amazing beyond comprehension. it can be easy and feel like the best thing in the world, natural almost. but sometimes it’s extremely effortful, and being surrounded by a crowd and filled with pressure you can’t get out from under because it’s inside you…

so to say i love him

does feel a little to the left of right

but i do love what he’s done for me

and my life

and my art

and my heart.

there is nothing but wholesome

gratitude

inside me

for him and all of the band,

and it’s warmed with hope

that they all get what a little

(or a lot)

of what their hearts want and need today.
