Season Greetings!
The festive season is upon us, and while the temperatures are plummeting and snow and blizzards are closing in in the northern hemisphere, here in the south, the weather is mild and warming up nicely. Gardens have thrived this year - roses are bountiful, tress are wonderfully bushy and thickly leaved, and the waterlilies have started to flower. But while the weather might be different, for all of us it’s the end of another year - a time to look back with satisfaction, and to look forward with hope and anticipation.
And that’s exactly where we are with the latest Cynster releases. Looking back with satisfaction: By Winter's Light, the book that pivots from the preceding generation to the next, was released last month, and is now available everywhere, in print, e-book, and audio-book. I know many of you have already enjoyed the experience of the snowbound Cynster Scottish holidays of 1837, packed with holiday traditions of yore, the delights of multiple generations under one roof, with a dash of adventure and a gentle romance, plus the seeds of romances to come.
I hope you all have a wonderful time revisiting with the Cynsters, and experiencing the atmosphere of their snow-bound Scottish holiday season. As Library Journal puts it: “Scents of pine, cinnamon, and yule log smoke (plus some nostalgia and a dash of magic) waft from the pages of this heart-warmer that adds another chapter to this popular, long-running series.”

BY WINTER’S LIGHT is the introductory book to the Cynster Next Generation novels. It’s a holiday tale that bridges the generation gap and re-introduces us to the children of the Bar Cynster couples with the eldest offspring on the cusp of adulthood. The events in this story reveal the emerging strengths of those older children, and sows the seeds of their stories to come.

In the vein of looking forward with hope and anticipation: Once you’ve indulged in BY WINTER’S LIGHT, you’ll know that it’s Lucilla’s story next and also why the title of that story is: The Tempting of Thomas Carrick. This is a longer novel that takes place 10 years after the events in BY WINTER’S LIGHT.
Lucilla knows Thomas is her fated lover and husband, but Thomas has reason to fiercely resist succumbing to love. But Lucilla knows she has only one chance at happiness, and that chance lies with Thomas. So...
THE TEMPTING OF THOMAS CARRICK will be released on February 24, 2015, in print, ebook, and audio editions. Once March rolls around and you’ve had a chance to read THE TEMPTING OF THOMAS CARRICK, you’ll understand why Marcus’s story is next, and you won’t have long to wait. A Match for Marcus Cynster will be released on May 26, 2015. An early excerpt plus the stepback art for A MATCH FOR MARCUS CYNSTER will be revealed in the Jan 15 email newsletter, and will appear on my website on February 1.
And then?
2016 will see the release of The Adventurers Quartet, a Regency-era quartet evolving from secondary characters encountered in THE LADY RISKS ALL, and also including some of your favorites from the Bastion Club and the Black Cobra novels.
2017 will bring 3 more Cynster novels (and after reading BY WINTER’S LIGHT, THE TEMPTING OF THOMAS CARRICK, and A MATCH FOR MARCUS CYNSTER, you’ll be able to guess which three Cynsters will get their romances next. Yes, those three - 2017 will be a very big year!).
2018 will bring the next three Casebook of Barnaby Adair novels. I’m not completely certain which characters will feature, but you will have met those who have their romance in each book before.
And there’s many more stories on my TBW (to be written) List to follow after that. In short, there are lots more books coming your way.
