Thank You Again

It means a lot to my family, how kind people on social networks have been about the assault on my son.

We heard from the arresting officer, apparently not much happens during the holidays, but they are taking this seriously, and they are now aware that we intend to pursue this to the very end. We know the name of the attacker, the local paper ran a story (where they did not mention my son’s name, thankfully, but they did get his age wrong by ten years for some reason) and showed a photo of the guy.

We will absolutely do our best to make sure this man doesn’t do this to anyone else.

We have our son home for a few days. It’s going to be family, food, games, and movies. I frankly plan on spoiling him rotten.

There’s a special kind of anger when someone messes with your child. But we are also filled with the remarkable relief that it didn’t go as badly as it could have, and that Cody was able to stop this guy from causing more damage.  We always think of the things we are grateful for on this day, and I can’t remember ever being MORE grateful about anything than that our son is safe and healthy and home with us.

But way, way up there too is gratitude for all the kindnesses we have repeatedly been shown when a bad day happens, sometimes you people are more understanding than even some family and friends.

I wish all of you the best possible day, sincerely.

Thank you.
