Thank you all for the kind thoughts about my son. He’s going to be okay. He’s bruised and dinged up and angry, but I think he handled the situation just about as well as anyone possibly could.

The attacker was cuffed and arrested, we are waiting for a preliminary report from the arresting officer. There was never any question of culpability, all the witnesses said the same thing, an unprovoked attack.

Dakota’s pressing charges and we are going to do everything in our power to make sure this violent young man never does this to anyone again.

I know not every kid who gets attacked out there has a support system. And this kind of thing happens to someone every day. It’s infuriating.

All your kind words and thoughts mean the world to all of us, I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.

We are bringing Cody home for a few days. I want him just to relax, read, play music, play video games, and eat mom’s cooking and know how loved he is. That’s the plan. We are very lucky that things didn’t go worse than they did.

He’s very moved by the kind words, he hasn’t read these yet but we told him about them.

It’s a coincidence, but after our house was robbed, I mentioned on Twitter that all our new games had been stolen, and very kindly and unexpectedly, UbiSoft and Microsoft both sent big boxes of games, just to be kind, to help us restart our collection.

Some of the games they sent are games Dakota has been dying to play, so that was really good timing for a kind deed.

And I told Dark Horse comics about what had happened, because they are also in Oregon, where we are, and knowing what Cody likes, they sent a box of amazing HALO and DRAGON AGE books, which is exactly the kind of thing he goes wild for, just for him.

People are lovely. The creeps and bigots out there, they are awful and they can do a lot of damage.

But people are still lovely, given the chance.

Thanks, everyone.
