Final Rest Part II

Jos 24:32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

The faith that see God’s final rest is not cheap. The rest of God is not randomly offered to any. A study of the word will help us to understand – as well as the shadow of Heaven provided for us in the journeys of Joseph. Eternity is for fighters – for he that overcometh. Overcoming sin, the enemy, the world, the flesh are not accidental achievements. Those who have done it will know by their battles and the victory in Christ. We also know those that will not be there.

Rev 21: 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Liars, whoremongers, the abominable and the unbelieving will not be there. Those who doubt the existence will soon lose the motivation to overcome and will justify their defeats. Those who cease from the fight of faith do so because they do not see the rest ahead. Those who look for rest here and value the earthy rest will do everything to obtain it and will soon forget about the reality of God’s eternal best. Be extremely cautious of forgetting eternity … are you making preparations to be there. If you are not – it may mean you will not be there. Ponder over these words. Joseph made it (not because he suffered a lot or that he was the favorite of Jacob, but because he made careful preparations towards the place of his final rest. Are you preparing yourself?

Song.

Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away;

To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).

I’ll fly away, Oh Glory – I’ll fly away; (in the morning)

When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).

When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away;

Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)

I’ll fly away, Oh Glory – I’ll fly away; (in the morning)

When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).

Just a few more weary days and then, I’ll fly away;

To a land where joy shall never end, I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away)

Prayer : Father, show me how to prepare for the place of your final rest reserved for all your children. Amen
