Presenting: Cripple Wolf!
As I've already announced, the third Bizarro Starter Kit is out. I loved reading first Starter Kit and I credit that as what got me into Bizarro. The second one exposed me to more authors like Mykle Hansen, Jordan Krall, Andersen Prunty, and others. They were my introduction to people I now value as coworkers, friends, and family.
I am honored to be included in the third volume, purple (also my favorite color), alongside conspirators as Cameron Pierce, Andrew Goldfarb, David Agranoff, Cody Goodfellow, Athena Villaverde, Garrett Cook, Matthew Reveret, Kris Saknussemm, and Russell Edson.
My contribution is a new novella – Cripple Wolf. It is about a wheelchair bound werewolf on board an airplane that caters to various fetishes. Chrissy Horchheimer (the artist for Super Giant Monster Time!) illustrated the story. Here's a preview:
"He didn't really want to kill the baby but he did it anyway.
He snatched the infant out of its mother's arms and sunk his teeth into the baby's soft chest. It squealed like a stuck piglet.
The mother's screams pierced his ears. He bitch-slapped her with his hairy paw but she kept screaming, staring at her mutilated baby dangling from his other claw. He swiped at her again and, at that exact same moment, the plane hit a rough patch of turbulence. His claw sliced cleanly through her neck and the rocking of the cabin sent the head bounding into the overhead storage compartment and straight off into the middle of a row of passengers.
Panic exploded in the crowd.
He snorted, his senses aroused by the blood, sweat, and fear in the recycled air. The infant convulsed in his claws. He lapped its blood with his wide flat tongue and then tossed the little pork chop aside.
He spun and wheeled toward his next victim."
