Another teaser? Why not…

It takes a few seconds for me to realize what he said, but when I do, I open my eyes only to see him walking to his room.

‘Goo-’ My voice cracks, so I clear my throat. ‘Goodnight,’ I call.

I hear him chuckle softly before his bedroom door closes behind him.

I throw myself back on the sofa, frustrated.
