NOVEMBER POETRY PROMPT #13:

Honestly I was never a big Taylor Swift fan before but I think she’s doing truly exciting things with her new album 1989, which I’ve been rocking out to on my long drives while on tour. I also think this new video for “Blank Space” is the BADDEST and I love how Tay-Tay takes what the tabloids say about her and turns it up ten notches for this. How she becomes a caricature of her public criticism here. She almost parodies herself. I feel pretty empowered by that idea. Do you?

Today, I want you to write a poem where you take the worst things people say about you and TURN IT UP. Like oh, you think I’m fat? Well watch me eat the ocean. Let me slice this subway open with a fork and knife. Oh, you think I’m too gay? I tattooed my entire body as a rainbow and here I am, waving outside your home and work place establishment. I sneeze glitter.
