Moving on
The next week James graduated from treatment. He had not used drugs the entire time he was in treatment. Emu transferred to the evening program so he could spend more time helping his father. Ann also graduated, although she said she had mixed feelings about leaving treatment.
Julie and Michaela were sad to see them go, but agreed to meet with them at outside AA and NA meetings. The last time we were all together, Julie and Michaela read of a list of ways they thought they were better for having known James, Emu, and Ann. I was impressed with the list, and a little disappointed in Liam. He all but pouted while the list was being read.
Today I will accept people moving on, and be grateful for all I've gained from knowing them.
