The Internal Effects of a Range Rover

T Harv Eker, motivational speaker and author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, states that you should “bless that which you want.” Why? Let’s consider the following example:

Let’s say your dream car is a Range Rover SUV, but you are currently driving a 20 year old beater. When a handsome, well-dressed man driving a Range Rover cuts you off in traffic, you could likely react with this internal monologue: “Hey, Mister Perfect Rich Guy, thanks for nearly killing us both in your over-priced, gas-guzzling hunk of metal!” In some ways, this guy and his car represent everything you wish you were. Who wouldn’t want to be handsome, successful, wealthy, and have nice clothes? These are all symbols of a level of living you want, including the power to have and experience many wonderful things; hence your desire for the Range Rover in the first place. It’s not for the Range Rover itself; it’s what a Range Rover represents and how you think it will make you feel.

[Sidebar: It’s never, ever about “things.”]

Do you see the problem? Judging and criticizing your own dream (which you perceive someone else as living) sets up an internal resistance to it appearing in your own experience. That resistance is the internal conflict that will keep you stuck forever, because some aspect of you is not OK with having an over-priced, gas-guzzling hunk of metal. That would mean you are a bad person. And unless you are criminally insane, you won’t like to think of yourself as a bad person. Therefore, you will choose to drive a 20 year old beater, simply because you don’t have a moral conflict with it.

The antidote is instead to bless those symbols that you witness “out there” in the world instead of judging, criticizing, or resisting them. Be happy for that person or group of people who seem to have something you are trying to create. Each blessing will send your psyche a message that “this is a good thing” and will not create an energetic wall of resistance to living the good life….. RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
