Lady V and I are working hard on Remathyst, Dragons of Dragonose 4.  The book is coming along nicely, and will reveal many secrets.  And, we are looking forward to the release of Up in Smoke, Texas Vampire Rangers 2 coming out November 25!

As the holidays approach, we hope to take a little down time during the month of December in order to both enjoy the season as well as re-energize ourselves to get ready for the new year.  We promise, 2015 will be full year with several surprises along the way!

So, would you like a sneak peak at Remathyst, Dragons of Dragonose 4?  Okay, here it is:




       




From the land of Dragonose!

"Halloween was so much fun!  When is the next earth holiday?" Although Sapphamire inquired, all eyes in the room looked over to Fadri with expectancy. 

"According to my findings, Thanksgiving is the next major holiday.

"Thanks--giving, I'm not to sure about this one.  Why do I need to be thankful for giving something away?" Ivormantis asked in confusion.

Fadri chuckled at his friend.  "It is a time to be thankful for what you have been provided with."  He sighed as he leaned back in his chair .  "It all started when settlers were just coming over to what is now America.  The Indians evidently helped the Americans one year, showing them ways to plant crops so they would grow better.  When it became time to harvest the crops, the settlers wanted to show their appreciation, so they invited the Indians to have a huge feast with them."

"Oh, are we talking Indians as in 'Cowboys & Indians'  that the girls like to play?" Sapphamire spoke up.

"Well, kind of, but we are talking actual Native Americans, here.  And there were no cowboys.  Only people in search of a new place to call home where they could live freely."

"So, how do people celebrate the holiday today?" Ivormantis inquired.

"Well, it seems the holiday has changed quite a bit from what it started off as, at least here in America.   I did some research, and then I contacted our friends The Texas Rangers and the Werewolves, and they all told me the same thing.  Although a big feast is still a very big part of Thanksgiving, once the meal is over with, that is where traditional Thanksgiving seems to end also.  For women, the day after, called 'black Friday' is a huge day of shopping.  People actually stand outside of stores for hours waiting for the store to open in order to buy items at sale prices."  Fadri stopped and shook his head.  "This part of the holiday I simply don't understand."

"Okay, you mentioned that women are the main ones that do this.  What do the men do?  Sleep?"  Ivormantis inquired.

"Well, yes and no.  Some get up and go shopping with their wives, and stand in line also waiting for stores to open.  But generally, for guys, it's all about football.  We are in the middle of the season right now, and human men pick their favorite teams to watch.  Football, from what I have been able to find out, is a big thing here in the United States."

"Now that sounds like fun, Fadri.  Can we get involved?  Can we pick out our favorite team and watch the games and do the things these human men do?"  Sapphamire asked enthusiastically.  

"I don't see any harm in it, Sapphamire.  Besides, Walter thought you might like to get involved.  We are getting together tomorrow night with both the Vampire Rangers and the Werewolves at the pub to discuss picking out our teams.  We thought it might be fun to keep up with each of the teams everyone chooses, and see who comes out on top in the end.  The final game of the season is called the Superbowl, by the way, and that will be early next year.  That is a big deal in this country also."

A Message from the Paws:  Shadow

Hi everyone!  Guess what I did Saturday morning?  Well, I was outside on my lead and a squirrel started teasing me in MY yard.  I took off after it, forgetting all about the fact that I can only go so far.  Hey, I love my new lead, I have the run of a good portion of our backyard.  

Anyways, I went chasing after the little bushy tail.  I heard a noise, but was too set on catching that squirrel who ran up a tree where I couldn't get to him.  The little blasted devil!  Then dad came walking over to me, looked down and said with a scowl on his face, "Boy, you don't know your own strength!"

I looked over to see what he was talking about and realized I had pulled the bolt in the shed wall clear out  when I took off after that bushy-tailed squirrel!  Dad was still scowling, but my chest puffed out and pride filled me.  Scowl and all, I still took it as a compliment!

Well, that's about it for my adventures, dad got me back inside and then installed a new bolt to the lead.  Wonder how long this one will last?  He said something about if I pulled this one out he was hooking it up to a pole that has been cemented into the ground.  Hmmm, does that sound like a challenge to you?  Because it sounded like one to me!  Take care and have a great week!
