I may not be able to be your backbone

but I can be the crutch in which you lean on

that will never tilt or break. Just promise me

that when I need you, you can do for me

what I will do for you.

I know that people always say

that you shouldn’t have to heal someone

on your own but I don’t care about

their failed attempts at trying to save

someone whose fate only led to destruction

because I love you enough to let you use me

as your safety net. But I can’t promise you

that I may not loosen up from the pressure too

but I can promise that I will never let you

hit the ground without my dedication there

to help break the fall.

shouldn’t invest my time in someone

who will only drag me down along with them,
