Quick question, which do you prefer. Bow ties or regular ties?

You know, I had a gut reaction to this and it was ‘bow ties,’ and I think it’s because guys often wear neckties when they don’t really want to. The odds are, if we see a guy wearing a tie most of the time, he’s in sales or he’s in an office or some other thing where the tie is mandatory. Mandatory is rarely attractive on people, even if they wear it well. 

Lots of guys wear ties because they look good in them, but I think we are more likely to encounter them because of a work thing, the insurance salesmen in Omaha might be wearing a tie, it doesn’t mean he wants to wear a tie. 

But a guy wearing a bow tie, odds are, he has made that choice. I think it also shows some confidence because people do still make fun of them (even though they look darn snazzy most of the time). So I guess with guys, I’d go with the bow tie.

Women in general still aren’t required to wear ties as often, that might change the dynamic a little.

I guess it’s this. If you wear a tie and it’s your choice, whatever your gender, it’s probably going to look great.
