Last night me and Mav went to Spencer’s, near the Niyoz.

I haven’t been there before, but it’s really big.

She bought me a drink and I danced with some of the factory people. She was right—I could have turned a trick or two, easily.

I didn’t realize offworlders would go for that sort of tourism. Mav said there are even rooms in the back.

It’s very tempting, but I settled for lightening some pockets.

Last night, anyway.

Today I traded for some tubers, and we went to Alice’s. Mav showed me, you barter with Alice, and trade ingredients for a serve of dinner. I haven’t eaten so well for years. I’ll be full for days.

I was surprised by the sense of …community.
