Punk Minneapolis by Peter Swanson

Peter Joseph Swanson is the author of 5 paperback novels with Stone Garden Publishing; Hollywood Sinners, The Joan Crawford Murders, Bad Movies, Merlin's Charge, and Punk Minneapolis.
Here is the book's synopsis:
At a pizza place in uptown Minneapolis, scenesters and a psychic try very hard to find the next cool party and a pure state of punk living in the summating year of 1989. Their overripe imaginations (and beer) bring out bizarre fatal accidents, memories of once being devil possessed, and a vengeful ghost of a hippie who had overdosed.

My novel PUNK MINNEAPOLIS is purely fictional, but I have many real memories of a few famous people I knew in the "good ole days".In the late 80s I worked at a coffee shop (before there were any other coffee shops in Minneapolis). Prince's girlfriend Ingrid Chavez lived upstairs but I didn't know she was Prince's girlfriend, at first. She came down into the shop at least twice a day and I sometimes had my lunch break with her. One day she mentioned doing a video with Prince at the Walker sculpture garden for her music. I was surprised! I only knew her music as Skyfish that she did with another guy who also always came into the coffee shop.In 1990 she was in Prince's next movie Graffiti Bridge, as his muse. I went to the wrap party for that movie that Prince threw at a huge downtown nightclub. She wasn't there. Prince only came out to mingle near the end of the party. I later found out they got into a fight first thing that evening about her next record album that he wanted to produce. She didn't want him to produce it, she thought he sounded too polished for her style, and so after yelling at each other she left that party before it even started. At the wrap party for the movie Drop Dead Fred (made in Minneapolis at the end of 1990), Ingrid was there with Phoebe Cates. We all chatted: Graffiti Bridge wasn't done yet because Prince decided to edit longer, and Ingrid's next album was out, by then. Prince had indeed produced it and she thought he ruined it by making it sound too glossy. Ingrid Chavez also co-wrote and sold to Madonna the song Justify My Love. She said Madonna doesn't like to be around other women, so they didn't get along when they worked together.I recently found a fan club to Ingrid Chavez on Face Book, said hi, and she said hi right back: Peter Joseph SwansonHi Ingrid, it's me, I'm the one who worked at the Upper Crust and sold you peanut butter cookies, ha ha.
