Chapter 258: She Believed
When Tamaes opened his eyes, Taji was standing guard. “Good news?” he asked.
“The best kind. Adin was Sent.”
Taji brightened. “I remember when my turn came.”
Tamaes sat forward. “You … you are not pierced.”
“My joy is full.”
A pang lurched through Tamaes’s soul. “I want ….”
“We all do.” Taji shyly asked, “Would you like to hear? About her?”
“Please.”
So he shared stories from the trove treasured up in his heart, whispering about a wisp of a girl whose faith was more beautiful than apple blossoms.
“Her name?” Tamaes asked.
Taji’s smile widened. “Celia Mae Pomeroy.”
