RANDOM ACT OF METAPHOR: Cumulus Clouds and a Friday State of Mind
Hmmm, was it just a coincidence or were those stunning, cumulus clouds on the horizon, as I drove to work this morning, a gift for my weary eyes and sagging spirit?
It has been a particularly stressful week. Every day had a looming deadline that seemed almost impossible to meet. The type of day where you run on stress induced adrenaline and crash out when you get home.
As I turned on to Dixie Road this morning, I was attempting to psyche myself up – somewhat unsuccessfully – for one more kick at the cat. And then I saw it: A stunning bank of pure white cumulus clouds on the horizon that looked for all the world like a snow-topped mountain range.
It was an inspiring sight which gave me the energy infusion I needed to face the day ahead. I wish I had had a camera to capture the beauty and majesty of it. But, then again, you have to be there to experience the true essence of something so noble.
So was it just coincidence? Or did a greater power bequeath me – and countless others who no doubt were in the same Friday state of mind – this gift to remind me to count my blessings and put things in their proper perspective.
Cumulus clouds lifting me from a Friday state of mind. A random act of metaphor to remind me not to sweat the small stuff and to save my energy for the exquisite moments that life has to offer.
