Computer Meltdowns And Schedules Written In Whipped Creme

So a few weeks ago, my laptop had some kind of meltdown and literally just ceased to work. I save my work to an external hard drive daily (sometimes a few times daily, depending on how the writing goes), but I hadn’t gotten a chance during that work session to save anything in the two manuscripts I was working in: Surrender and Possession. After a good deal of crying and pulling of hair from my head, I found out that I could get the laptop working again, but what was lost would stay lost. I’m talking chapters here. :(

After the Meltdown of 2014 (that’s what I affectionately call it now that I can talk about it without crying), I began to rethink my original plan for immediate future releases. The reality is that unlike other authors, I can’t publish four full length novels each year like I did between August 2013 and August 2014. I write slower and my editing takes longer because I like to take my time in revisions. I sometimes wish I could write as fast as some out there, but my style develops at a different rate. As a result, I’m changing my release schedule.

Originally, Surrender was scheduled for October 2014. Now, all I can say is I’d like it to come out in 2014. Possession was scheduled to be released for January 2015. That won’t happen. It will be released in 2015, but I don’t know when. Hold On My Heart’s cover reveal will still take place on September 3 and I will begin to write that book in earnest on September 1. Would I love for it to come out in 2014? Yes, but I’m not making any promises. Gage and Jordan’s book is plotted out and ready to roll, but that’s all I can say. I also have a top secret project I’m working on, but that book was never going to be released in 2014, so its schedule hasn’t really changed. I am also mulling over a serial, but that was also always going to be for 2015, so nothing has changed there either.

I hope readers understand that a good story takes time to develop. Above all else, I insist that my work represent me in the best way, and for my books, that means time.
