Prince of Fools nominated for Best Fantasy 2014

Prince of Fools is a Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Best Fantasy 2014.

Only a handful of the 15 nominees have fewer ratings than Prince of Fools so without your help the chances of the book making the finals are SLIM!

Last year Emperor of Thorns scraped into the final and came 9th of 10. So you can see the odds that the first book in a new trilogy has to overcome.

VOTE like the wind!

Being on the list (especially the final list) is a great boost for book & author, so all support appreciated!

I have more to say on my blog...

Marc Jones Easiest choice I made all year, you have my vote.

Thanks, mate!

Heather Sadly I voted for Emperor's Blades before I saw that Prince of Fools was there. Next round I'll get it right! Both books are excellent.

It's easy to clear your vote if you want to reassign it :)

I'm sure Brian's book is fine though.

Heather Evidently I've listened to so many audio books I no longer know how to read. Fixed!

BL834 See, last year you were up against Gaiman. I can't vote against that man or I'd lose my immortal soul or something. This year though... you've got my vote!

Heh - he won by 30,000 votes, got more than 3 times what the 2nd placed book got.

100 more votes would have moved Emperor of Throns from 9th to 7th.

Votes for the little guys really matter - votes for the gods are effectively wasted...

Many thanks for this year's vote :)

BL834 Well, if it's any consolation, I think you should've at least placed in the top five last year. 9th place, pfaugh! That vote was was rigged! :)

King of Thorns was 4th in 2012, but the stars aligned for that one!

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather I liked King of Thorns the best, so I think it was more than stars aligning! I've noticed that there was a more positive reception from female readers for Prince of Fools so that should help.

You should never underestimated the power of Bromance to draw in female readership.

message 14: by Alissa (new)

Alissa @Heather you can vote for it in the Debut Goodreads Author category.

Just loved the Prince of Fools, easy to cast my vote for it. How could not I? You wrote about Snorri!!

message 15: by Mark (new)

Mark Lawrence Many thanks - Prince of Fools will need every vote possible if it's to stand a chance of making the final 10.

message 16: by Farouq (new)

Farouq Gobir I was about to vote for Prince of Fools and then I saw Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson and I couldn't help myself

Mark Lawrence Words of Radiance will get 10s of 1000s of votes and your vote will make no difference to Sanderson. It might, however, help Prince of Fools squeeze into the final... ;)

Mark Lawrence I have 1382 Goodreads friends. GR tells me only 59 voted in the Goodreads Choice Award! I'm hoping that's a GR glitch!

Round 1 voting ends today!

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather I think it should have won an Audie Award. I loved the narrator for Prince of Fools. Do you get any influence on who they pick for narrator?

I'm afraid I had to go with Red Rising for debut.

message 21: by Farouq (new)

Farouq Gobir @Mark he Probably will and it might not make a difference. I voted the book I liked best however. But Prince of Fools was one hell of a book so you'll get my vote next round. We square?
