Alien 3 is the best and most underrated of the Alien films. Everyone points to the atmosphere of the first film, or the badassery of the second, but it’s the nilhilistic hope in humanity that drives the third film forward. And while the theatrical cut is flawed, the director’s cut is phenominally improved by the original storytelling placed back into the film. From the score to the casting to the direction, Alien 3 is an underrated masterpiece, and, in my opinion, is the best in the series.
