I have to say that was an incredible blog about Avatar. It is one of my favorite stories and you expressed what I have been thinking about it for years so eloquently. You will always be one of my favorite authors not only because you have talent for telling a story, I also you seem to share a lot of my same insights in stories.

I love the anime series (and I'm not an anime fan normally.) My kids were watching it on Netflix and my hubby and I got pulled into Aang's world. I still haven't finished the last few episodes so I didn't read your whole post (just in case.) We did watch the movie that came out this summer and were all really disappointed.
I agree, the cartoon series has been the best thing I've ever seen. My husband and I talk about it all the time, and I think it is worth it for my children to watch. It reaches down deep and touches something in our souls. And the movie is really bad, I felt so let down, but I'm glad the cartoon creators disagreed with him as well.
I just watched the movie at school, and I am glad I didn't have to pay for it. It was just ripped to shreds. I am hoping that someone more competent remakes the way it should be.
