Project to Published Relaunch!

BestWay

Every author gets asked the basic how-to questions from time to time. While I am no self-proclaimed expert I have always taken the time to answer as openly and honestly as I can. Recently a friend brought to my attention that weekly posts might help me keep my thoughts organized and give me a venue to talk to each of you and help people who are new to the scene. A few of you may remember that when I first stepped onto the scene I created a weekly project called ‘Project to Published’.

I’ve decided to re-launch ‘Project to Published’ and dedicate Sundays to literary ‘how-to’s from myself and guests.

When/Where: The launch will start next Sunday! New posts will go live each Sunday from that point on here at www.EmmaMichaels.com.

What (type of posts you can expect): Everything from outlining to marketing. My friends call me the ‘Mad Hatter’ for a reason and it has nothing to do with hats. I tend to bounce around from one project to the next and as a result have had positions at publishing houses ranging from Marketing Consultant and Cover Artist to Director. I have a lot of information I haven’t seen widely publicized and plan to share. Though, I will likely keep a feel tricks to myself, there is a lot of untapped potential out there that hasn’t found one cohesive venue.

Why: I have been asked ‘What would you like to go back one year and tell yourself?’ no less than a dozen times in interviews. The truth is; I wish I could go back a few years. When I stepped onto the scene in the publishing industry I was painfully ignorant. Looking back now, I realize most people are. There is this idealized image in our minds of what the publishing industry is like and the actuality is both better and worse. The truth is that publishing is extremely hard work, long hours, and success can be a rarity. On the flip side, it is the single most rewarding thing I‘ve gotten to be a part of in my life. I suppose, I am treating ‘Project to Published’ as a chance to go back and tell myself the things I wish I’d known in the hopes that it can benefit others.

I’m looking forward to feedback on the first post next week but in the meantime, do you have any topics you would like to see covered?
