CJ is researching illegal bare knuckle boxing in Victorian times for a scene in Ghost Girl where Cara and Quin have to find someone at a bout (and Quin subsequently must participate). Here’s what she has to say:

It’s actually pretty interesting, but gruesome. I keep thinking of that opening scene in the Roberty Downey Jr Sherlock movie. Boxers were the MMA fighters of the day, except they were forced into seedy underground venues after the rules changed in 1867, making bare knuckle fighting illegal. Along with the drunken mobs, the lack of rules, and the bloodthirsty natures of everyone involved, it was no place for a lady. (Which is why Cara will be dressed as a boy). I’ll be writing up the scene today and I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I have a few wicked things planned for my characters.
