The enormously important issue of digital privacy is only now beginning to get the kind of attention that it rightfully deserves. It’s long overdue. One of the people who has been an important voice on this issue is Rebecca MacKinnon, a journalist and activist, founder of Global Voices Online, and a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation where she examines U.S. policies related to the Internet, human rights, and “global Internet freedom.” Here is a link to her article “We’re Losing Control of Our Digital Privacy” that I pulled from the New America Foundation website. It’s an important article and Rebecca MacKinnon is a strong and intelligent voice on the subject. (I encourage you to check out both Rebecca and the NAF using the links provided.) Digital privacy is not a partisan issue. It affects all of us alike. This is a thought provoking article. And sobering.
