Worship, Sensuality and the Tree: an Addendum
Perhaps the ancient pagans were correct and expressed a healthier understanding of human nature with their sensual worship rituals. For ignored or suppressed, the innate need for sensual worship might be twisted, misdirected or become addiction. Misdirected: people might worship idols and the ‘wrong’ things like money, power, sex, a particular person, religion, political party or place to live. Addiction: the worship of idols can twist one’s perspective so that the idol becomes dominant and the center of one’s life to the exclusion of all else.
