Why Do I Thank You

Let me paraphrase some famous words from Elizabeth Barrett Browning for today’s blog post.

Why do I thank you? Let me count the ways.

I thank You for the Son You sent,

Letting me my sins repent,

To live with You for countless future days.

I thank You for the godly wife

You found and sent to me

To have and hold and just to be

Companion for my life.

I thank You for the smiling face

My daughter gives to me

And for her sons, who number three,

And the love in me they place.

I thank you for prosperity,

Good health, and family—

For all that you have done for me

And all my family tree.

But most of all I thank you, Lord,

Just for being You—

For leading me in all I do

By Your Spirit and Your Word.

Guess you can tell poetry is not exactly my forte, but for some reason it just seemed like what God wanted from me today. I hope you found something to like about it.

What are you most thankful to God for?
