Were You Not More Lovely than a Summer's Day?" by S. A. David

Were you not more lovely than a summer's day?

Were you and I not one, one, one and one?

Did you and I not swear that God cannot divide us?

Did I not have fever when you were in Paris?

Was our loving a bad pay?

Was I not your one and only and one?

Did I not share your pain when you shed pus?

Did I not preserve my body while you graced Paris?

But I gave my all, why did you flee?

You were the reason I wore a smile, why me?

He enticed you with his skin, why you?

We rolled in the deep, why did you unroll?

In Paris he paid your fee, what fee?

You put me in your history book, why me?

We could have had it all, why you?

Were you just a baby doll?
